Supermarket giant rumoured to be looking at Barnehurst
Rumour is that a Sainsbury Local store will be open in Barnehurst by the summer of 2011.

The location mentioned is the currently vacant site of Bristol Street Motors in Erith Road opposite Bursted Woods.
In my opinion this could this be a good thing for house prices and convenient for local residents and I'm sure the store would do well from the commuters using the station. It also means you don't have to go to Bexleyheath or into North Heath (Co-op is expensive!). However - would the local businesses suffer? This is my only worry.
At the moment the off licence would have to compete with them along with the sandwich bar, take away outlets and newsagents.
Personally I would still try to support the local shops and only buy
from Sainsbury items I can't get elsewhere.
